Selection Criteria for Retailers
Suppliers select the ideal bags to stock their inventory. The problem arises when they go looking for that ideal and different bag. Certain criterion should be followed when selecting the perfect bag for their showroom:
  • Customer preference
Customer preference plays an integral role in selection of bags. Customers are forever on a lookout for a good, competitively priced bag. The inventory is stocked with a variety of designs in differing price ranges to tempt the customers. Customers also prefer bags that are easy-to-use and maintain.

  • Durability
The suppliers need to check the durability of the bags being stocked. If the bags are inexpensive yet non durable, the entire stock may be sold but would lead to disgruntled customers. As a result, the reputation of the bag supplier would also suffer. Therefore, competitively priced yet durable bags are the most in demand.

  • Latest Fashion Trends
The latest fashion trends determine the kind and range of bags being manufactured. Designers create new designs of bags that act as matching accessories to their designer clothes. Biodegradable materials are also being used extensively and so suppliers need to keep in mind that they stock such bags. Banned materials like fur, mink, ermine and chemically treated cloth should not be used.

  • Impeccable work
The workmanship should be perfect with neat stitching and good ironmongery/hardware. The tabs should be stitched with perfection, high zip quality, a number of pockets for storage, wheels to facilitate easy carrying, strong buckles and handles, soft padded adjustable shoulder straps, a strong base board to make the bag stand on its own (specially in travel bags) and good bead work(in case of evening bags).

  • Easy to keep and wash material
The supplier should check out inexpensive bags made with trendy designs. The material should be easy to maintain and with low maintenance. The material should be washable yet not cheap in look or design. Bags should also be resistant to wear and tear due to usage.

  • Variety of the bag
Some manufacturers mass produce imitation bags by copying the same design as that of a designer bag. The supplier should check the uniqueness of designs, the holograms and the lettering on the bags and zips. Sometimes, designs are embroidered on bags that give a very tacky look to the bag. Thus, the overall look of the bag should also be appealing and classy.

  • Shipments
Suppliers should deal with manufacturers who can give them maximum discounts and supply bags in the shortest time frame without compromising on quality. Also, the shipment and payment details should be worked out to maintain good working relations with the manufacturer.
